"Once a jolly swagman camped by a billabong..." You'll be forgiven for relentlessly whistling this famous tune while you're in Winton, as it's the very home of Banjo Patterson's 'Waltzing Matilda'. Visitors from all over the world have travelled to The Waltzing Matilda Centre, the only museum dedicated to a song, however in 2015 the centre was the victim of a tragic fire. This year's Outback Trailblazer has named the Waltzing Matilda Centre rebuild as one of two deserving charities to benefit from the 2016 fundraising drive. We will be presenting a cheque to the committee as we arrive into town. Winton is also known as the Dinosaur capital boasting two major Dinosaur fossil facilities - The Australian Age of Dinosaurs and Dinosaur Stampede at Lark Quarry (pictured).
